This is the LJ solely for the compilation of chapters, author's notes and other bullshit paraphernilia associated with the fan fic "Loneliness of the Short Distance Runner", by gunderpants.

"Loneliness of the Short Distance Runner" is an eleven-part HP work-in-progress fic that was started in November of 2004. (As of 05/04/2006, the second-to last chapter has been sent for beta editing.) Originally, it was just a set of vignettes about Remus Lupin, rather un-canonically, giving up drinking, with no real purpose. One day, the author sent this fic to the lovely dbassassin for a fic review exchange at Fictionalley Park, whereupon the response "wtf is this shit y0" was sent back to the author. Being the sort of thickskinned and not-easily daunted person she is, gunderpants admired the moxy of this honest reviewer and begged her to become the beta editor for the project. She did, and it was roughly around that time (around chapter four) that any kind of plot was established.

This fic contains a shitload of coarse language and alcohol references/usage. It contains het (eeeew!), some rather... erm, original interpretations of the R/T relationship, and some rather inept father/son bonding, or a roughshod attempt at it. There's not much in the way of sex or fluff, and there's much in the way of pretentious purple prose and bad writing. But most importantly, there is much in the way of dodgy!Remus, kickarse!Tonks, ambiguous!Lily, pissed!Harry, loveable!Mundungus and bitchplease!Snape. That said, if you can stomach all these disclaimers you can likely stomach this fic.

Though the chapters and deleted scenes have been included for the public, things like author's notes and scene commentaries have been friendslocked due to the personal nature of some of them, and as such if you would like to read further information you would need to friend this LJ. All will be friended back, and anyone can come along and read and comment about whatever they want: whether it be positive or negative.

All rights to characters, places, scenarios is owned wholly by JKR and her subsidiaries. Many thanks to the beta editor for this project, dbassassin, who came in after a couple of chapters, saw how direly lacking of a plot they were and set me on my wicked ways once again. If there is any reason why people like this fic at all, that reason will likely be her tireless efforts to sort the good from the utterly crap.
